"The writing I've done, especially for outdoor activities
and
the environment, has always been with the hope that nature
will be valued
and therefore preserved. It's why the trail series has been
important
because proceeds have gone toward various environmental projects.
Through
the sales of Grand River Country Trails, for example, more
than $30,000 was
raised to build a section of the Walter Bean Grand River Trail
along the
Canadian Heritage River."
Proceeds from Katherine's book series have supported
the following
environmental, conservation and charity projects:
Grand River Conservation Foundation
Conservation Ontario
Thompson Creek Restoration at the Grand River (Dunnville)
Mountsbeg Centre for Birds of Prey (Campbelville)
The Grand River Trail (Kitchener-Waterloo)
Stacey Meadow Habitat Restoration (Hamilton)
Black Creek Conservation Area Trail (Port Dover)
Groundwater Protection on the Oak Ridges Moraine (Toronto)
Bruce Trail Association
